Get involved and make a difference
Every one of us can make a difference. The climate change festival gives you the chance to do one big thing to make your home and your life more sustainable:
- Act on CO2 roadshow - DEFRA offer you free advice on cutting your carbon emissions.
- Birminghamcuttingco2.org pledge points – your opportunity to make a commitment, cut carbon and contribute to a cleaner Birmingham.
- Don’t Bin IT, Recycle IT - get rid of unwanted IT equipment like computers, monitors and phones – data shredded while you watch.
- Green diary room – record your thoughts at the video kiosk and send your green message to the world.
- Recycling roadshow - find out more about reducing your waste. Bring 10 plastic carrier bags and swap them for a reusable cotton one.
- Birmingham Big City Plan and Birmingham Local Development Framework to find out more about the city’s new planning arrangements being prepared at the moment.
Of course, there’s a limit to what any of us can do alone. But together we can make a real difference. On 5 June, World Environment Day, Birmingham will officially launch the next steps in its city-wide strategy for tackling climate change.

Competitions
The climate change festival features two exciting competitions.
Capture your experience walking (or cycling) along Birmingham’s canals or
River Rea, in film, sound, song, photo, drawing, poem or short story, and
enter it for a ‘Walk on Water’ competition. The prize is a top-of-the-range city bike and a chance to feature in a touring exhibition.
Or enter a photo of your favourite local green space in our ‘Picture This’ competition, and be in the frame to win a great prize. Watch this space for further details.
